Lee Sutton – Co-founder and CEO
A greentech enthusiast and pioneering electronics engineer, Lee is passionate about developing the next generation of revolutionary eco-smart home technologies.
Prior to joining myenergi, Lee worked with a broad range of technology firms, including Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson. A true entrepreneur, Lee has run numerous businesses, including 4eco, an organisation globally renowned for its energy efficient power diverter for water and heating.
In the summer of 2016, Lee established myenergi alongside co-founder Jordan Brompton. The company launched its first product – eddi – and the portfolio quickly grew from there.
Lee spent the next 12 months of myenergi’s journey developing the second product in the range; zappi. The first EV charger on the market of its kind, zappi enables customers with solar panels or a wind turbine to charge their electric vehicle with surplus self-generated renewable energy. The industry said it couldn’t be done, but Lee proved otherwise and went on to file a patent for the product. After securing an investment from Sir Terry Leahy and Bill Currie in 2018, zappi was brought to market.
Lee has built the company from a small team of just six, to staff numbers in excess of 200. There are now more than 300 approved zappi installers, with products sold across Norway, Australia, France, Italy, Ireland, Sweden, New Zealand and the USA. The business has gone from strength to strength, with a forecast turnover of £60m by May 2022.
Lee continues to have a lot of ambition, meaning there are some exciting projects coming up; including the design and release of further eco-smart products.
“I feel very privileged to be able to bring my ideas to life through the business and I enjoy working with such a fantastic team. It’s the people that make a company and I’m blown away by the level of talent we have in myenergi and that we’re attracting as we scale.
