Your EV Home Charger Guide

Your EV home charger zappi | myenergi Australia

Best EV Home Charger? Got to be zappi!

zappi is the smart and eco-friendly charging solution, offering unique and innovative features such as tracking your energy usage, cost, and savings over time. This can optimise your charging patterns to minimise energy costs.

The zappi EV charger is equipped with intelligent charging technology that can adjust the charge rate based on the available energy supply.

This means that it can charge your electric vehicle with excess solar energy generated from your home’s solar panels, or from your wind turbine or other renewable energy sources.

And even if you don’t have your own PV system, zappi still makes charging with an EV home charger cost-effective and efficient, thanks to multiple charge modes built-in.

Using a home EV charger

You can charge your electric car at home with ease – pretty much anyone with a property and a parking space can have a home EV charger.

Most electric car owners opt for a dedicated home charging point.

Depending on your choice of home charger and where you are located, that might stipulate the features which come with it.

How much does using a EV charger at home cost?

EVs are generally much cheaper to run than fossil fuel vehicles and so you can expect to save an average of $106.41 per month on fuel savings alone, which is a total average fuel saving of $1,277 per year.

The cost of charging an electric car depends on many factors, including if you’re using electricity from the grid or your own PV.

If you want a simple calculation for how it could work out for you and how much you could save in the long run; to fully charge your battery from near empty would be between $14.44 – $15.74.

The cost of driving an electric car is usually around $0.04 per km –

Electric car drivers can save up to up 650% compared to filling the car with petrol or diesel

Saving on cheaper energy

The best time to charge your vehicle is during the night and in the early hours, so you are best to plug in from between 11pm and 7am. Refrain from charging on your EV home charger between 2pm – 9pm as tariff prices are at their highest then.

It does depend on the EV you have, but on average, if you are charging from empty, then the zappi 7kW will fully charge a battery between 4 – 10 hours, and the 22kW zappi can do it in less than 2 hours!

Again, this depends on what model of EV you have, but you’ll find a lot of vehicles can do between 500kms and 600kms on a single charge. Some upcoming models, like the Tesla Roadster 2, are said to be able to run up to 1,000kms so we’ll have to wait and see!

The zappi eco charger is available from just $1,345.

Additionally, there may be grants and incentives available in your region that can help towards the cost.
