“I’ve learned so much and got to know some great people,” says Ricarda, who recently joined us on a six-month placement as part of her masters thesis.
Ricarda’s passion for sustainability and renewables is evident in her move from the bright lights of Munich, her hometown and place of study, to the myenergi base in the small village of Binbrook, Lincolnshire.
Having met our Co-Founder and Sales Director, Jordan, at a trade event in Germany, Ricarda joined our Green Team in January, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge in Project Automation from her time studying in both Munich and Paris.
Ricarda has been a fantastic addition to the ever-growing myenergi team, and she certainly shares our enthusiasm and ambition to create a more sustainable world.
“I’ve really enjoyed being here, it’s very interesting,” she says. “I’ve done internships in the conventional industries – at Siemens working with locomotives and at a daughter company of Mercedes – but when I thought about what I wanted to do, everything became clear…”
“I don’t want to work in a static industry where people do the same thing for many years; in the end, that only destroys the planet. I want to contribute to something that’s great for the future.
“It’s amazing to work in an industry doing so much good for the environment.”
So far, Ricarda has been helping Gary Foulkes our Production Manager, in production, demonstrating her expertise in project automation to facilitate the creation of the eddi, harvi and upcoming zappi.
“My work is done many different ways,” she says. “First, I get involved in projects and production to get to know how everything works. I then analyse the benefits and try to find any potential problems or points of improvement.”
Ricarda has spent time studying in various major cities in Europe, but this is actually her first time in England.
“England is really cool. It’s been a bit of a culture shock, but that’s okay,” she says. “The guys have even got me dunking biscuits in my tea now, and Kennedy recently introduced me to her mother’s roast dinner, which was amazing!
“It’s been really easy to become a part of the team,” says Ricarda. “It’s great chatting and learning from everyone. We did the pub quiz together earlier this month, which was a lot of fun but very difficult!
Kennedy, one of our longest-serving team members, has taken Ricarda under her wing, giving her a tour of the local area as well as introducing her to a range of English treats.
When speaking of her integration into the team, Ricarda says: “Kennedy has been great! We recently went to Cleethorpes Pier and I plan on seeing all of the sites in and around Lincolnshire in the next few months.”
