Driving positive social impact together
The first year saw 24 community groups, including a number of grassroots sport and activity clubs, environmental and cultural projects, innovation technology and educational workshops, eco warriors and community heroes; and local charities/social enterprises, receive support for a variety of initiatives.
The 24 supported initiatives included BeGreatFitness‘s Food for Thought Project, an innovative educational resource pack designed for secondary schools KS4 and sixth form, and The Canoe River Cleaner‘s ongoing environmental project to improve the health of the River Freshney and prevent plastic pollution, and many more.
This season, the fund will be open to businesses that operate within the North East Lincolnshire postcode and will support 6 community projects and initiatives throughout the duration of the year.

To apply, applicants will be required to complete the online application form below, providing details about your project, club or initiative; who the project is for, what is the objective of the project, what are the expected outputs of the project, the cost of the project and any barriers to achieving the project.
We will then evaluate the application to make sure your request hits all the criteria we are looking for. We will aim to respond to all applicants within two weeks of the application. If you are successful, we will reach out with the next steps.

To be eligible, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
- You must be from a North East Lincolnshire postcode
- You must be recognisable as a charity, social enterprise or community group. I.e. you have a clear purpose or deliver an activity that is broadly recognised as charitable
- Your organisation(s) should deliver public rather than private benefit
- You must not be linked to a national charity
- You must have a bank account in its group name and must be able to provide proof of this
The funding could be used to expand reach, enhance facilities, improve infrastructure or simply maintain the provision of services for local people. Eligible projects can include but are not limited to:
Social – Youth centres, grass roots sports teams, voluntary support services, cultural projects that showcase local arts and strive to change perceptions, drive positive change and encourage an inclusive society.
Environmental – Establishing green spaces, reducing carbon emissions, and engaging people in activities such a recycling or other aspects of a sustainable lifestyle.
Economic – Charities, community groups and enterprises that promote economic development such as regeneration or job creation projects, and who provide support for those in need due to the cost-of-living crisis and energy poverty.

As part of the initiative, you will be invited to a kickoff event at Blundell Park where you will have the opportunity to talk about your group/project with all other successful applicants. You will also be invited to a home game at Grimsby Town to be presented with your cheque, with a page dedicated to your group/project in the Grimsby Town Match Day Programme.
