Overview FAQs

It’s available to homeowners installing the myenergi One ecosystem in owner-occupied or privately rented properties in England and Wales. It’s a great solution if you’re looking to spread the cost of your new system, and you’d like the security of performance monitoring, unlimited repairs and replacement for the plan lifetime, with no callout fees or excess.

Offers are subject to application, status and finance agreement. Finance options are not currently available to homeowners in Scotland, landlords operating as a limited company, or for solar installations at commercial properties.

There’s no upfront cost, and the monthly payments cover everything needed for hassle-free power generation for your plan term:
– all equipment specified in your quote, including panels, inverter, libbi battery, zappi EV charger, and eddi solar power diverter, if included
– installation by myenergi in accordance with MCS standards (including any scaffolding and access equipment required)
– remote monitoring and periodic on-site inspections, to ensure the system is performing as expected
– unlimited repairs (all parts and labour) for the plan term
– replacement protection: if any of the equipment fails and can’t be repaired, replacements will be installed, even if the warranty has expired.

The plan does not cover removal and replacement of functioning solar equipment for the purpose of making roof repairs. Monthly payments are subject to an annual increase of 2.5%, to reflect the cost of maintaining and repairing the installed equipment over time.

Financing enables you to spread the cost of your new installation, rather than paying upfront. Hometree Finance’s plan also covers lifetime monitoring and periodic on-site inspections, so you can have confidence that your system is performing safely and efficiently. And with unlimited repairs and replacement included, you won’t have to worry about unexpected costs during the plan term.

With terms up to 25 years, the plan also gives you the option to spread payment over a longer term than, for example, a 10 year personal loan. This lowers your monthly payment amount, and means that repair and replacement of faulty devices will be covered for up to 25 years, regardless of the product warranty length.

Hometree Finance’s pre-emptive service sets them apart. With remote system monitoring and periodic inspections included in the plan, they’re able to detect and remedy performance issues before they significantly impact your power generation and storage.

Another key difference is that all the installed devices are covered for your chosen finance term – up to 25 years. This is significantly longer than the product warranties on some of the devices available with myenergi One, giving you complete peace of mind that if faulty devices need repair or replacement, this is covered by your plan at no extra cost.

Your monthly payments and savings will vary based on a number of factors including the specification and price of your system, the system yield and your personal energy consumption. For some customers, their savings may exceed their payments from month one but this is not guaranteed. You should consider whether the monthly payment amount is affordable before choosing the plan.

Hometree Finance has no charge or ownership over your property, and the restriction on title should not affect any existing mortgage, or your ability to remortgage your property.

You can end your plan at any time by paying the settlement amount outlined in your agreement, with no quibbles or early repayment penalties. If you’re selling your home, you can pay this sum before marketing your property, or through your solicitor from the sale completion funds. Alternatively the buyer of your property can apply to take over the plan for the remaining term.

No, your monthly payment covers all inspections and repairs, with no callout fees or excess for the plan lifetime.

Product FAQs

Yes, you can use your zappi EV charger to charge your car without solar. It will simply take power from the grid and charge your car like a conventional electric car charger, with the added benefit of being able to integrate with a range of low cost energy tariffs!

The eco charge mode is a mixture of both green energy and energy imported from the grid. Eco mode minimises the use of grid power, generally taking advantage of cheaper rates overnight, but can also charge using 100% green energy. Essentially giving you the ability to charge up your car for free! The charging power is continuously adjusted in response to changes in generation or power being used elsewhere in the home.

If the surplus generation drops below 1.4kWh, some power will be drawn from the grid to top it back up.

Eco+ charging is very similar to eco charging in that it can utilise power from the grid or your own onsite generation. However, the charge power is continuously adjusted in response to changes in generation or power consumption elsewhere in the home. Your electric car charging will pause if there is too much-imported power, continuing only when there is surplus free power available.

In fast mode, your vehicle will be charged at maximum power. This power can come from a renewable energy source or simply from the grid. The cost of charging an electric car also depends on numerous factors, including mode and the car itself.

If you don’t have solar panels or wind generation, zappi will charge just like an ordinary Mode 3 charging point.

The time it takes to charge your EV isn’t all that black and white and depends on multiple factors such as the vehicle, battery size and type of charger. However, the average time to charge an EV is around 7 hours 42 minutes, using a standard (not rapid) charger.

The cost of charging your EV varies depending on a number of factors. If using solar panels, you can charge you EV for free! However if you are paying for an EV charger at a service station for example, they will dictate their own rate depending on the fluctuating costs of energy at the time.

At home, you can benefit from cheaper charging if plugging your electric car in at night compared with during the day, and you can also select different charging modes which will change the cost. You can find out more about this and base line calculations in our guide how much does it cost to charge an electric car?

zappi chargers are compatible with all EV’s. Type-2 is the European standard for AC charging, so almost all new EV’s in the UK come with Type-2 sockets. zappi has a few different options, tethered (with cable which has a Type-2 connector) or untethered (Type-2 socket). If you happen to buy an older EV with a Type 1 connector, you will need to purchase the untethered Zappi and connect to the car using a Type-1 to Type-2 cable.

Yes, the myenergi App free and available for both iOS and Android users.

Yes, zappi has three settings that allow you to control how you charge:
1) Fast mode -charges your EV at the max rate available, ideal if you need to charge your car quickly
2) ECO mode – Uses a mix of excess generation power from the grid. It prioritises renewable energy but will use grid power to maintain a minimum charge speed
3) ECO+ Mode – Charges exclusively from your excess self-generated energy (solar/wind/hydro). If the vehicle minimum charge rate isn’t available (1.4kw), the zappi will pause.

There are no product specific subscriptions for zappi or the mobile application.

The tethered charging cable with zappi is 6.5m long and has a Type-2 plug at the end.

Yes, you can configure zappi to take advantage of low cost tariffs. zappi is designed to work with time of use or agile tariffs, allowing you to maximise your savings, simply use the myenergi App to schedule charging sessions based on your tariff structure. zappi is also fully integrated Intelligent Octopus, with other intelligent tarrif integrations to follow.

No, you do not need solar to use zappi. While zappi is designed to integrate seamlessly with your solar (wind/hydro) microgeneration system, is also functions effectively without, operating as a feature rich smart charger with sophisticated tariff integration options!

The zappi is a single outlet charger, so you can only charge one car at one time.

zappi has pin-code functionality, providing you the option to protect against unauthorised usage.

zappi has Wi-Fi and Ethernet options built in, such that you can connect to your internet router wirelessly or via a hardwired connection.

Both tethered and untethered zappi is available with either a black or white fascia.

zappi comes as standard with OCPP 1.6J. Integration with third-party software platforms such as Monta or Fuuse will enable payment to be collected for time spent charging.

The libbi battery storage system comprises a modular DC battery (a bank of Lithium Iron Phosphate cells), an inverter to convert DC to AC electricity, and a controller to measure and manage the flow of energy in and out.

If you have a time of use tariff from your electricity provider, libbi will optimise charging around cheaper periods and will store it for you to use during more expensive peak times

If you’d like to add solar in the future, you can do so at any time, without needing to purchase a separate solar inverter, as the libbi system includes one.

Absolutely! Libbi has been developed to work in harmony with our existing products, connecting your home battery storage to our energy eco-system.
Using the intuitive preferences in our mobile app, you can control when libbi will drain to your zappi, eddi and home, enabling you to make decisions on how you want to use your stored electricity.

Yes! Customers who are on an agile tariff, for example Intelligent Octopus, can optimise their libbi charging around cheaper price periods

Libbi offers customers the option to charge solely from Solar PV, or from Solar and the electricity grid combined, meaning you can make the most of self-generated electricity, whilst also charging using cheaper off-peak tariff prices.

The average home battery storage install is typically in a day . If you’re having a battery installed with a solar array, this can take longer (typically 2 days), depending on the complexity of the work required – for example, this timescale doesn’t include erecting scaffolding for a new solar array.

The libbi home battery storage system and inverter can be installed both indoors and outdoors, however the libbi controller must be installed indoors.

When installing indoors, there needs to be sufficient space around the system to allow for air flow, and it can’t usually be installed in loft spaces (due to the weight) or blocking an entry or exit route

Our certified installation partners will walk you through the best location for your libbi during their initial survey.

The libbi system is modular by design. With this, you can create a home battery storage system between 5kWh (1 battery), up to 20kWh (4 batteries). Sytems larger than this are possible by specifying mutiple systems.

Yes! libbi surplus electricity generation from independent wind turbines installed in the home. When detecting surplus electricity, libbi will ensure that this is either stored for future use, or used to power your other devices, such as zappi and eddi (based on your charging preferences).

Yes, libbi can be installed on 1 phase of your 3 phase supply; with the potential to install up to 3 (1 on each phase Alternatively, we will be launching a 3 phase version in due course, so watch this space!

Those who are receiving feed-in-tariff payments for the electricity they generate with solar PV will need to inform their FiT licensee. In most cases, the licensee is the electricity supplier who has been contracted to supply electricity to your home. A qualified myenergi installer will provide guidance on how to do this.

The libbi home battery storage system can be installed with optional “blackout back-up”.

This means that in the event of a power outage, libbi will provide the electricity it’s stored to a dedicated circuit or socket that’s connected to the libbi back-up output.

The libbi battery storage system stores energy for later use, typically from renewable sources like solar panels or from the grid during off-peak hours.

Benefits include energy independence, cost savings on electricity bills, backup power during outages, and the ability to use renewable energy more effectively.

libbi can provide backup power to essential appliances and devices, depending on their capacity and installation setup.

libbi comes with a 10-year unlimited cycle product warranty provided you use the myenergi controller.

As part of our design process we’ll calculate your system size based on the available roof space, house orientation, and energy usage profile.

Each libbi can accomodate a maximum of 20kWh of storage, if you have a system installed and decided to increase your capacity from 5/10/15 kWh later, we can usually accomodate this with a service visit subject to a review of your existing system design.

No.

While they help reduce reliance on fossil fuels, the production and disposal of batteries can have environmental impacts; myenergi products are manufactured with this in mind, please find our sustainability strategy below.

eddi diverts any excess solar or wind generation back into the property, to help maximise the consumption of your self-generated energy opposed to exporting out to the grid, in turn you can heat water with solar – for free!

The eddi monitors power imported from and exported to the grid. Power generated by your PV or other microgen system that is normally exported is surplus power.
The eddi diverts this surplus power to the water/storage heater or other load up to 3.7kW, thus preventing it from being exported.

Surplus energy that is exported back to the grid can be as high as 80% of the total that is generated in the first place. The eddi can help you use up to 100% of your micro-generated energy, which is completely free!

eddi works alongside heat pumps reducing your dependence on grid electricity whilst decreasing carbon emissions. Built in SG-Ready connections to enable heat pumps in PV mode, and tracking for making sure you never give away a watt. eddi will soak up the lower generation in the morning and will switch to the heat pump for any hot water demand during the day, to take advantage of the efficiency without using grid electricity. Almost all heatpumps from 2016 onwards will support SG-ready.
eddi has superior integration with the Logic Air heat pump, see Logic Air heat pump questions for more information

eddi works alongside the Logic Air to manage energy usage effectively. When solar generation is low, eddi heats water by diverting power. When solar generation is high, the system switches to the heat pump, ensuring optimal energy use.

The Logic Air heat pump monitors the system and can notify eddi when a legionella cycle is needed. eddi then heats the water to the necessary temperature to kill any harmful bacteria, ensuring the system meets the highest safety standards.

Yes, utilising the relay outputs, eddi can be installed to work alongside an existing gas or electric heating and hot water system and can be used with up to two heating circuits.

No, eddi has a built in energy manger making an eddi not just a power diverter but the start of your brand new energy management system with full visibility on the eddi display and myenergi app.

Yes, the eddi can work alongside battery storage systems to optimise energy use. It ensures that the energy generated from your solar or wind system is utilised effectively before any surplus is stored or exported back to the grid

Absolutely! eddi and eddi+ integrate seamlessly with other myenergi products, like zappi (EV chargers), to create a comprehensive energy management ecosystem. They communicate wirelessly with each other to maximise energy efficiency

You can control both devices using the myenergi app, which allows you to monitor energy usage, set schedules, and boost your heating remotely. eddi+ also features a built-in user interface with a graphical LCD screen for easy control.

eddi is designed primarily for single-phase installations and supports a maximum heater load of 3.68 kW. It’s perfect for residential use with grid-tied solar PV or wind turbine systems.
eddi+ is an advanced model that supports three-phase power supplies and can handle larger energy loads up to 9 kW, making it ideal for both residential and commercial settings

When solar generation is low, eddi will prioritise using energy from the grid efficiently to heat the water. This ensures hot water is always available, even when solar output is reduced

Maximising Self-Consumption: Eddi allows you to use more of your self-generated solar power by diverting surplus energy to your hot water heater or other resistive heating loads.
Cost Savings: By using more of your own solar energy, you can reduce your reliance on the grid and lower your energy bills.
Sustainability: Eddi helps you reduce your carbon footprint by maximizing the use of renewable energy sources.
Simple Installation: Eddi can be installed quickly and easily with minimal wiring. It utilizes a new installation assistant for commissioning.
Silent Operation: Eddi operates silently using passive cooling.

Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity using photovoltaic (PV) cells, which generate direct current (DC) electricity that is then converted to alternating current (AC) through an inverter for home use.

Benefits include lower electricity bills, increased home value, energy independence, and environmental sustainability by reducing carbon footprint.

Our Solarwatt AM4.5 Panels have a 30 year warranty!

Yes, you can end your plan at any time by paying the settlement amount outlined in your agreement, with no quibbles or early repayment penalties. The monitoring, maintenance, repair and replacement service provided by Hometree Finance will end, and no further payments will be due.

Yes. Hometree Finance’s agreement specifies that the homeowner is entitled to receive any payments relating to surplus energy generated by the system, such as under the Smart Export Guarantee. Once your equipment is installed and commissioned Hometree Finance will send you instructions and paperwork that you can provide to your energy supplier, to make sure these payments are enabled.

Any product warranties that extend beyond the end of your plan will remain valid. For example, if you choose a 5 year finance term but the libbi installed under the plan has a 10 year product warranty, you will have a further 5 year product warranty period on your libbi once your finance term ends.

This is an entry in a property’s register entry at the Land Registry, which simply ensures that if you’re selling your property, Hometree Finance will be notified. They can then ensure that your plan is ended in accordance with their terms, or transferred to the buyer of your property. This is not a charge on your property, so it doesn’t ever give Hometree Finance any right to repossess or sell your home. Hometree Finance sets up the restriction once installation is complete – there’s no need for you to do anything. Once your plan ends, Hometree Finance automatically removes the restriction on title.

Hometree Finance requires you to insure the equipment against loss or damage throughout the plan term, which usually entails notifying your buildings insurer of the replacement value outlined in your agreement once the system has been installed. Your agreement with Hometree Finance should not impact your ability to get buildings and contents cover from insurers.

As the finance plan is a lease rather than a loan, the equipment is Hometree Finance’s property, and they are responsible for monitoring, maintaining and replacing any equipment that fails, for the lifetime of the plan. This is common with consumer finance (for example car contract hire agreements). You get the benefits of the system, including energy generation, storage, and any payments relating to surplus energy generated by the system, such as under the Smart Export Guarantee. Once your system has been designed, myenergi will send a personal link where you can find out more, choose your plan term and apply directly through Hometree Finance to confirm the options and prices available to you.

Once you’ve applied, Hometree Finance will notify you of the plan terms and monthly payment options available to you, prior to signing your agreement. If the specified design or devices change following your application, the plan terms and monthly payment amounts offered may change. In this case, you’ll be able to reconsider your options before signing your agreement.

No, the plan is a zero-deposit package. When you apply you can choose your plan term from 5 to 25 years, which will adjust the monthly payment amount, with longer terms offering lower monthly payments. Offers are subject to status and finance agreement.

This is completely unrelated to Rent-a-Roof schemes that were offerered in the 2010s. Rent-a-Roof was an arrangement where a homeowner granted a lease of the airspace above their home to a third party who would then install solar panels and also keep the benefit of payments made by the government for those panels. This was an unregulated agreement and some homeowners found out years later that the contract terms were unfair or unduly restrictive.

All of Hometree Finance’s consumer finance products are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and subject to strict requirements that ensure fairness to consumers.

If any of the installed equipment listed in your agreement fails within your plan term and can’t be repaired, replacements will be installed at no extra cost, even if the warranty has expired. So you can relax knowing that you’re covered for the lifetime of your plan – up to 25 years. The plan does not cover removal and replacement of functioning solar equipment for the purpose of making roof repairs.
