eddi is a solar power diverter that helps you to make the most of your self-generated power rather than exporting it back to the grid.

Bring an eddi into your home and you can make the most of the 100% green energy generated from your solar PV or wind generation system. Without a solar power generator, you have no control over where you want your self-generated power to go.

If you’re looking for more information about the myenergi eddi solar power diverter, we’ve created a series of expert guides. Alternatively, our product experts have answered your most frequently asked questions below.

Our eddi solar power diverter comes with a CT clamp as standard, alongside a 5m cable. In some cases (such as for 3-phase installs, or to see real-time generation displayed on the LCD display) you will need an additional clamp, but these can be easily purchased from our online store.

If a longer cable is required, you can extend with a CAT5 Ethernet cable, or by connecting the CT wirelessly with a myenergi harvi.

It’s definitely possible to install an eddi yourself, as long as you wire it in series with your immersion heater. If the distance between the eddi and your consumer unit is more than four meters, a CT clamp connected to a harvi wireless sensor will be required. 

The installation should take less than an hour, but we’d always recommend consulting an electrician to be safe.

In standby mode, the eddi solar power diverter uses just 3W of power. It has a maximum heater load of 3.68kW and a minimum load of 100W. This means that your eddi can monitor and divert renewable energy without using much power itself – optimum efficiency, minimal grid reliance. 

As standard, the eddi solar power diverter is supplied alongside a current transformer, 5m cable, plus fixtures and fittings for use on cable clamps. If the distance between your eddi and consumer unit is less than 5m, you won’t need to install a harvi. If it needs to be further away, if you can’t connect a CT clamp, or if you want to connect your eddi completely wirelessly, you will.

After all, harvi is our wireless sensor that enables myenergi products to be installed without using a hardwired current transformer. By providing real-time energy consumption data to your eddi, harvi will ensure that power can be used efficiently within the home.

While eddi can be used to divert self-generated energy to your immersion heater, it works with gas boilers too. The eddi boost timer can be easily programmed to use a gas boiler to heat water at specific times of low generation (such as early mornings or late evenings), with renewable energy used to heat the home for the remainder of the day.

This ensures efficient use of your self-generated renewable energy and minimal reliance on the grid, keeping your home heated day and night.
